How I’m Talking to my Toddlers About Sex and Pornography

For years, I stood on stages and gave parents advice on how to talk to their kids about sex and pornography. “It’s not a one-time conversation.” “You have to talk to them once you give them access to the internet because pornography is a predator.” “Use anatomically correct words.” “Don’t…

As part of the Porn and Parenting Series, I reached out to my friend, Chris, at Protect Young Eyes. PYE shows “families, schools, and churches how to create safer digital spaces. How Pornography Affected My Journey as a Mom

Over the years, I’ve tried to be very honest about how my struggle with pornography has impacted different seasons of my life. It affected me while single, and then even in marriage, and now, I’ve noticed, even in motherhood. If you’re a woman who struggles or struggled with pornography, I…

To the Girl Who Wonders if God Can Be a Good Father

Father’s Day is here again, and while many are buying their dads bad ties, funny socks, or new fishing poles, there are many of us who spend father’s day nursing the wounds of what could have been. My dad left our family when I was little. The day is still…

(Why You Need to) Talk to Your Kids About Sex

I’ve said it for a while, “Whoever tells your kids about sex first is who they will listen to.”  Of course, I know that’s very daunting, especially for Christian parents. For whatever reason, Christian parents in general have a really (and I mean really) hard time talking to their kids…

About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica. I'm an author, speaker, military wife, and mother, passionate about God's grace and His power to redeem stories. Since 2009, I've been sharing how God worked in my life to set me free from an addiction to pornography (yes, Christian women do watch porn). My first book, Beggar's Daughter, was self-published and released in 2016. My second book, Quenched: Discovering God's Abundant Grace for Women Struggling with Pornography and Sexual Shame was released by Baker Books in 2023. I write about topics like recovering from porn addiction and what grace and freedom look like in parenting and marriage. I firmly believe grace has a story, and you're in it.
