If you want to break free from a struggle with pornography, you may be wondering: What do I need to do to stop watching porn? What do I need to give up? Is there some sort of trick? Different “experts” may have different strategies. When I was first beginning my…

Boundaries, Discernment, and Why You Might Reconsider Redeeming Love

It’s as clear in my mind as if it happened yesterday. I was a first-year student at Bible college and had just confessed to a years-long struggle with hardcore pornography. My three roommates didn’t know. They just knew I had stuff I was working through. During free time one day,…

Tips for Fighting Temptation During the Holidays

Is this time of year hard for you when it comes to your struggle? You would think all of the focus on gratitude and Jesus coming to earth would make it less likely for us to struggle. But that’s just not how it works. It’s important to remember that your…

Thirty Things You Can Do to Break Free in the New Year

I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions, but this time of year, they’re a thing. In the past couple years, for whatever reason, I’ve grown fond of the practice of choosing a word for the year. This year’s word was “trust.” Throughout the year, I’ll meditate on that word and…

When Porn is Stuck in Your Head

You know what’s tricky about pornography? It’s portable. If you have an issue with drugs or alcohol, you can put physical distance between you and your vice. But if I lock you in a room with access to absolutely nothing, you can still struggle with pornography. I get it. I’ve…

Triggers: Identifying Every-day Things That Can Lead to Lust

Over the years, I have often written or spoken about triggers.  Usually, when I do, I get an e-mail from someone asking: “What does it mean to ‘find your triggers?’  What does that look like?” I realize that as a former addict who knows her triggers, it is ‘easy’ for…

About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica. I'm an author, speaker, military wife, and mother, passionate about God's grace and His power to redeem stories. Since 2009, I've been sharing how God worked in my life to set me free from an addiction to pornography (yes, Christian women do watch porn). My first book, Beggar's Daughter, was self-published and released in 2016. My second book, Quenched: Discovering God's Abundant Grace for Women Struggling with Pornography and Sexual Shame was released by Baker Books in 2023. I write about topics like recovering from porn addiction and what grace and freedom look like in parenting and marriage. I firmly believe grace has a story, and you're in it.
