Beggars Daughter

Beggar’s Daughter is the most honest and hopeful book on female porn addiction I’ve yet to encounter. Jessica’s story of pain, loss and addiction frequently had me in tears. However, her account of her journey, as tough as it has been (and continues to be), offers hope and guidance to the thousands of Christian girls and women who are struggling in shame and silence. I will be recommending this book to every woman with a porn or sex addiction and every person who wants to journey alongside such a woman.

This is an honest and encouraging story of one Christian woman's adddiction to pornography. Jessica shares openly about her struggle so that other women don't feel feel alone or ashamed of their own issues with it. She refrains from being explicit as that could cause others to stumble, but is specific enough to warn others how to protect themselves and how to put up boundaries to help them fight temptation. While you may not have issues with pornography, Jessica's book also can be applied to any temptation of the mind that has a hold over you. In churches, usually there are programs and counseling for men struggling with pornography addiction but it isn't really addressed for women. I think this is erroneous since both genders now have easy access to porn nowadays even though women's addiction may look different than a man's. For instance, there are a lot of women who get caught up in romance movies and novels-even Christian ones-that skew their version of reality and have them focus on lust instead of healthy relationships with the opposite sex. All that to say, this is a great resource for those struggling with watching porn or even those who want to understand a woman's perspective on the topic.
