Resources for Counseling Porn Addicts

I’ve been getting some questions lately about how to help female sex addicts.  There are parents who wish to help their daughters, boyfriends who want to help their girlfriends who struggle, churches who want to start ministries for women who struggle.  It’s great.  It’s exciting and very much needed.  It delights me to no end that people are asking how they can help.

(Read that again, ladies: people are asking how they can help!)

On the upcoming site, there will be a whole page devoted to links like this, but I wanted to put all of my favorite resources on counseling and working with sex addicts all together in one place.

Books:

“Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands,” by Paul David Tripp.  Fantastic Biblical counseling resource emphasizing the fact that we are all simply instruments of the Master Counselor.

“Sexual Sanity for Women,” by Harvest USA.  I am getting ready to write up a full-scale review on this, but this is an absolutely fantastic group study resource for women struggling with a whole range of sexual sins– pornography, homosexuality, fantasy, masturbation, you name it.  It is a very gospel-centered, grace-based approach.  In fact, I love it so much, I am meeting with my pastors this week to discuss forming a group at our church and implementing this curriculum.  It is a group based study, so it would be difficult to do on your own.

“Sex is Not the Problem (Lust is)” by Joshua Harris.  A great resource demonstrating the difference between a healthy sex drive and sexual sin.  One of my favorite books to help correct the distorted message of sex.
